Injuries in Mtl make people talk

The injuries situation in Montreal is starting to start a lot of talking. With Markov out for 4 months and OByrne injured to the hankle, Gainey has to open his phone. 3 possible situations:

1. Bergeron is talking with the Habs for a possible contract. The french canadien defenseman is still freeagent.

2. Carle, Weber and Subban are always good backups and ready to play.

3. According to the Denver Post and Hockey30.com, Ruslan Salei and Brett Clark could be sent to Montreal, but we dont know for who.

Which would be the best scenario? I vote for Bouchard even if the good thing to do would be to call a young Hamilton's defenseman. <!-- / message --> <!-- controls -->

No Depth Perception??

Seriously a trade this early in the year for an aging D and someone who never really became the player most thought he could be. I don’t get it. When there are guys out there that can wholeheartedly be seen as contenders for starter spots on most NHL rosters sitting in the farm. I know its early in the year, but maybe bringing up Carle and Weber (I believe Subban could use the time on the Farm) would be a) good scenario for them to get accustomed to the NHL play (knowing Weber has already been here, and Carle being one of the last D sent down), b) I don’t see 2 more new guys being a detraction. I believe that should they both come up, they could get into a rhythm with the current squad entact, which would only strengthen them in the long run.

Its funny to see the remarks of Hockey savvy fantasy providers (Yahoo, NHL.com etc) vs those providers who have little hockey knowledge * (Espn) when it comes to what Weber will bring to the team if/when he’s called up (which I believe he was today according to Espn). They believe he’ll have little impact whatsoever. If he’s here he’ll produce. It may take him a game or two but have no fear, our worries will have all been for naught.

Here’s to adversity and gelling!

Unless there’s a vet out there that can play on our first PP and play a regular shift on D, then I don’t see the point in bringing him in. Bergeron qualifies for the first part but not the second. Salei and Clark qualify for the second part and not the first. Yannick Weber may qualify for both or for neither… we don’t know yet. He is an unknown at this level.

Barring the sudden availability of a d-man that can play a regular shift and help our first unit PP (and who makes sense cap wise, so no Brian Campbell, Ed Jovonovski or Wade Redden), there is no rush to add a player via trade. And pretty much by definition there is no player like that left on the open market.

Hockey blogging can't get any flatter.
